Ste. Rose General Hospital is a fully accredited rural, teaching, acute care health centre.

The hospital was founded in 1939 by the Grey Nuns of Manitoba, and is now part of the Catholic Health Network of Manitoba. It is located in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. The hospital was founded upon a request from the local inhabitants many of whom were of French descent.

Today, the hospital serves approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people in the East Parkland area with approximately one half being First Nations people. Services are provided under contract with the Parkland Regional Health Authority.

SRGH provides inpatient care in four specific areas:
General Medicine, Pediatrics, Detox and Palliative Care

The hospital now officially staffs and operates 26 inpatient beds.

Emergency and Ambulatory Care
SRGH operates a very active outpatient care program, which encompasses 24-hour Emergency Care,
Light Outpatient Surgical Care, and Itinerant Specialist Clinics.

Visits to Therapist: 397 | Visits to Dietician & Counselling: 33

Pastoral Care
SRGH has a very active Spiritual Care Department. Operating with one staff member, volunteers and
a Mission Facilitator, the program offers spiritual and emotional support to the inpatients, outpatients,
families and the community. In addition, this program provides Aboriginal services, social work
and Mission development.

Youth Outreach
SRGH operates the Youth Outreach Program out of a separate location in Ste. Rose. The program
seeks to provide the youth with opportunities and activities that will help them steer clear of the many
risks associated with that age group.

Health Care Education
SRGH is designated as a provincial site for health care education for a number of programs. SRGH is a
partner in the Parkland Family Practice Residency Program through the University of Manitoba, and
the Physician’s Assistant Program through the Canadian Armed Forces. As well, SRGH is the rural site
for the Provincial Licensed Practical Nursing Program, and is used as a practicum site for Nurse’s Aides,
Bachelor of Nursing, Pharmacy Technologists, Social Work Programs and HRT Programs.

The Ste. Rose General Hospital is situated on a 7.5 acre lot. It has an attached boiler room, which houses
two low-pressure steam boilers used for heating the hospital and nurses’ residence.
The new hospital was built in 1956.

Approximately 78 employees or 42 full-time equivalent employees work at Ste Rose General Hospital.
